Jose L. Romanillos Vega is widely recognised as one of the worlds greatest guitar luthiers.

His son, Liam, has a unique understanding of his father’s mindset and his building techniques having grown up immersed in the art of his father.

Having studied for years under his father, Jose made Liam a full partner in the family business in 1991.  Liam continues to build Romanillos guitars, using traditional tools and techniques and very old and rare woods carefully chosen with his father.  For those who have played a Romanillos guitar, it is a beautiful and personal experience taking you back to the heat of Madrid and Spain, with the purest form of guitar.

This is a rare opportunity to purchase an “as new” Romanillos guitar.  Liam only builds around 4 guitars a year and has a 15 to 20 year waiting list.  He is no longer accepting orders so this is a rare opportunity to acquire a Romanillos guitar.

We are lucky enough to have two Romanillos guitars at the moment, No. 901 and 902 respectively.

This guitar is constructed with Rio Rosewood, purchased by Jose in 1972 (with CITES Paperwork) and a very old Alpine spruce Top showing some lovely Bearclaw. The guitar has a typical 7 fan structure bracing pattern.

Indian ebony fingerboard and a cedar neck. Exquisite detailing all over the guitar, bindings, rosette, headstock, and neck. Beautiful hand made machine heads by Nicole Alessi.

The guitar plays wonderfully, has an amazing dynamic range.
